We can judge if someone is living up to their potential. While I might be able to change your desires by giving you good ethical arguments, I do not necessarily change the ethics of the matter by simply psychologically getting you to change your desires. The goal is to publish articles representative of an array of philosophical traditions and contemporary issues. Furthermore, despite doubts about the nature of truth, we as agents still have to make daily decisions about how to behave in the world.

The United States, which no longer belongs to Unesco (3), recently decided to boost defence credits significantly (4.2%), making a $12 billion increase in 2000 and a total of $110 billion by 2005. With this key conception in place, justice is soon conceived as the means to exact comparable revenge from debtors; a table of punishments can be drawn up, now that acts can be evaluated in terms of their damage to the creditor.

It is through our drives that we interpret the world, and are thus perspectival, not through our consciousness or perceptions. To write a good philosophy paper, you need to be concise but at the same time explain yourself fully. After carefully building up deterrence as the justification of punishment, this device absolutely voids and destroys it: a person who does not know they are doing a wrongful act cannot be deterred from doing it by any threat of punishment for something that seems irrelevant.
